Honda Sensing® Technology | Springfield, MO
Honda is making Honda Sensing® technologies standard in the majority of its 2019 models — including the Fit, Pilot, and Odyssey — and future models.
What is Honda Sensing®? This suite of intelligent safety technologies uses multiple sensors and processors to monitor your surroundings and alert you to dangers. From steering to braking and monitoring blind spots, the tools that come with Honda Sensing® aim to give you added attentiveness behind the wheel. Here are the some of the Honda Sensing® systems.
Collision Mitigation Braking System™
The CMBS system uses sensor technology to scan ahead of your vehicle as you drive. If it detects a potential collision, the system should activate the brakes to slow or bring the car to a stop. This aims to either reduce the severity of a collision or help to avoid an accident.
Road Departure Mitigation System
Using sensors that watch the lines of the road, the RDM system will track vehicle position to help avoid unintentional lane drift or departure. RDM will adjust steering and braking if necessary, yet it is also smart enough to disengage when you use your blinker or remain active behind the wheel.
Adaptive Cruise Control
ACC uses similar technologies to CMBS and RDM; however, it uses sensors to help maintain a safe following interval behind detected vehicles. That means you can set the speed—as you do with normal cruise control—yet the ACC system will also adjust acceleration and braking to keep following distance as well.
Lane Keeping Assist System
Similar to RDM, this system will adjust steering to help keep you centered in a detected lane.
Traffic Sign Recognition
Using a small camera, TSR will notify drivers of posted speed limits. Now you don’t need to guess what the speed limit is when you turn onto a new road or highway.
Honda Sensing® includes a range of other systems, like Honda LaneWatch™ that activates cameras when you turn on your blinker to switch lanes, and Blind Spot Information that detects vehicles that might be hiding in hard-to-see areas. The Cross-Traffic Monitor will detect vehicles behind you as you reverse, and Auto High-Beams change between low beams and high beams based on the environment and other drivers.
